The Ukrainian Catholic University is an open academic community living the Eastern Christian tradition and forming leaders to serve with professional excellence in Ukraine and internationally – for the glory of God, the common good, and the dignity of the human person.
Type of institution: A private institution for education and research. Founded by the St. Clement Fundation, whose elected head is Patriarch Lubomyr (Husar), the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

Form of instruction: Day classes at the Philosophy and Theology and Humanities faculties, and evening and extension classes at the Catechetical-Pedagogical Institute, short-term courses in theological subjects, and summer educational and pastoral programs.
Educational structures At the general department of the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology and the Humanities Faculty young lay men and women study, and also monks and nuns (479 persons).
Young men studying for the priesthood study at Holy Spirit Seminary in Lviv (208 persons).
At the evening and extension classes of the Catechetical-Pedagogical Institute, 375 students study.

· Catechetical-Pedagogical Institute
It was confirmed by the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church at the Lviv Theological Academy (now UCU) as an institution of higher education. It has the right to award the academic degree master of religious studies.
Denominational membership: The University comes from the tradition of theological education of the Kyivan Church, open to both Eastern and Western theology. UCU is the heir of the Greek Catholic Theological Academy, which was founded in Lviv by Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, and the Ukrainian Catholic University, which was founded in Rome by Patriarch Josyf Slipyj. The University is open to representatives of all Churches and denominations. Greek Catholics, Orthodox, Roman Catholics, Protestants, and Jews study and teach here.
Professors: 105 teachers, of whom 40 have doctorates or the degree of a candidate of studies. Annually approximately 40 guest professors travel to UCU from universities of Western Europe, Australia, the USA and Canada. The faculty to student ratio for the day program is 1:3.
Priorities: A well-grounded humanities education, the socially-aware orientation of the instructional process, and the spiritual dimension of education.
